Terms of use
Effective date: June 27, 2025
- The ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ collects and uses the personal information of its students, staff and faculty in the Better Data Questionnaire pursuant to section 26 (c) and (e), and 32 (a) of FIPPA. Such information relates directly to the strategic direction of the university, including the on-going implementation and evaluation of the Equity Action Plan, the Strategic Plan, and the Indigenous Plan. Specifically, demographic self-identification data is collected and used to implement, evaluate, and monitor equity-related initiatives, assess campus support structures/resources, and report on university practices (e.g., limited and preferential hiring searches).
- You are encouraged to use the data within the Better Data public dashboards with only a few conditions.
Use of the Better Data public dashboards
- You may use the data shared within the Better Data dashboards solely for non-commercial purposes. In accessing the data, users must not:
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scraping tools to collect data
- Alter or manipulate the data in a way that misrepresents its meaning or source
- Represent the data shared within the dashboards as their own without proper attribution
- You may use, share, and adapt the data, provided you attribute the source as follows: "ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ’s Better Data Project, retrieved from /equity-action-plan/better-data/about-project/index.php”
Non-endorsement
- This licence does not grant you any right to use the Information in a way that suggests any official status or that the Information Provider endorses you or your use of the Information.
No warranty
- The Information is licensed “as is”, and the Information Provider excludes all representations, warranties, obligations, and liabilities, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted by law.
- The Information Provider is not liable for any errors or omissions in the Information, and will not under any circumstances be liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or other loss, injury or damage caused by its use or otherwise arising in connection with this licence or the Information, even if specifically advised of the possibility of such loss, injury or damage.
Governing law
- This licence is governed by the laws of the province of British Columbia and the applicable laws of Canada.
- Legal proceedings related to this licence may only be brought in the courts of British Columbia.
Versioning
- This is version 1.0 of the Better Data Terms of Use for ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ. The Information Provider may make changes to the terms of this licence from time to time and issue a new version of the licence. Your use of the Information will be governed by the terms of the licence in force as of the date you accessed the Information.
Acceptance
- By using the Better Data public dashboards, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Use.
