Maureen de Burgh Memorial Scholarship
Maureen de Burgh died on November 11, 1985 at the age of 37-years-old. Her association with the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ and with the field of marine biology extended over many years. Prior to completing her PhD at Trinity College, Dublin, she studied as an undergraduate at the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ. She then worked at the Barnfield Marine Station, did a postdoctorate at UCLA, taught biology at the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ and was a pioneering contributor to the deep-sea, hydrothermal vent project led by her friend and colleague, Verena Tunnicliffe of the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ's Biology Department.
