Highlights
- The university is located 2 miles from the centre of the historic city of Stirling in central Scotland, less than an hour's drive to the larger cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.
- The university is in an area of natural beauty that stands at the crossroads of Scotland, both geographically and historically. Stirling is known as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’, and nearby are the world famous Trossach Mountains and Loch Lomond.
- Exchange students have full access to all university facilities, including a newly modernized library, the Robbins Student Centre, the MacRobert Arts Centre (cinema and theatre), Pathfoot Art Collection, shops, restaurants and a bank. The University of Stirling is also designated as Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence, and exchange students can join the Sports Union to access the university’s wide range of excellent sporting facilities.

Students may register at Stirling for part-time studies, taking a minimum of 40 Stirling credits per semester (Most classes are 20 credits).
Credits
Credits at Stirling:
- Full-time option (7.5 UVic units): 60 SCQF per term at Stirling
Course Evaluations at UVic:
- Before departure, UVic students will be able to submit exchange courses to UVic for evaluation. The results will indicate how many UVic units each exchange course is worth, as well as the course equivalency.
- Students must use the evaluation results to ensure their exchange courses credits add up to the equivalent UVic units. The total number of units for each exchange term should be 4.5 UVic units for part-time exchange or 7.5 UVic units for full-time exchange.
- This course evaluation process will be made available and explained in detail during the pre-departure session in early October for Spring exchange terms and in late March for Fall exchange terms. Evaluations take 2-6 weeks to complete and will be emailed to students.
- Course evaluations results are tentative until the end of the exchange term, when a second, final evaluation is conducted by OREM using the students’ exchange transcript, and the results are applied to their UVic record.

- After being accepted into the ICS Exchange Program, students will have the chance to submit exchange courses to UVic for evaluation. The results will provide updated unit and credit equivalency information.
Transcript Information
Host university transcript release varies by school and region. As a result, students should plan their exchange and return to UVic accordingly.
At the University of Stirling, transcripts are released for the Autumn Semester (Fall Term at UVic) at the end of January, and for the Spring Semester (Spring Term at UVic) at the end of June. If students have resit grades pending, this may delay the issuance of a final transcript. If students are in their graduating semester and need a transcript sooner, they should reach out to the University of Stirling on a case by case basis.
Exchange students are responsible for requesting their host university send their final official exchange transcript directly to the ICS exchange team at goglobal@uvic.ca, as soon as it is available.
Housing
- Exchange students have the choice of two or three on campus and one off campus residence each year. Students apply for accommodation online and instructions on how to do this will be sent to students after they have been admitted. The University of Stirling is unable to guarantee on campus housing for exchange students, but students who apply by the published deadline will normally receive their preferred housing assignment.
