Mengxia is a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ under the supervision of Dr. Ke Xu and Dr. Basma Majerbi. Her research lies at the intersection of financial markets and sustainability, with a focus on three core areas: (a) environmental concerns in cryptocurrency markets and the hedging ability of mimicking crypto portfolios in sustainable investment, (b) integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into portfolio optimization frameworks, and (c) assessing the impact of green bond issuance on corporate carbon emissions.

She holds an M.A. in Economics from UVic and an M.S. in Financial Risk Management from the University of Connecticut. In 2025, Mengxia served as a sessional lecturer at UVic, where she taught ECON 345: Applied Econometrics. 

In her free time, she enjoys backpacking, baking, traveling, and spending quality time with family—especially with her kids.
