Celebrating UVic's Faculty of Health

May 1, 2025

Dear students,

As of today, May 1, 2025, we are proud to officially launch the Faculty of Health at the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ.

Rooted in principles of equity, inclusion, and social accountability, the Faculty of Health positions UVic to address some of the most pressing and complex health challenges of our time. It will also serve as a vital training ground for the next generation of health scholars, researchers, practitioners, and leaders.

The following schools and their programs form the Faculty of Health:

  • Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education
  • Health Information Science
  • Medical Sciences
  • Nursing
  • Public Health and Social Policy
  • Social Work

As well, the Counselling Psychology and Clinical Psychology graduate programs are in the Faculty of Health.

There are also important changes taking place within the Faculties of Education and Social Sciences today, with three schools and their programs moving to new homes:

  • Child and Youth Care (Faculty of Education)
  • Indigenous Governance (Faculty of Social Sciences)
  • Public Administration (Faculty of Social Sciences)

If you are taking a program in one of the schools listed above, you will not see any material changes on May 1, although the faculty listed on your verification of enrolment letter, administrative transcript, and official transcript will change. The faculty listed on your degree parchment will also change if you apply to graduate for fall 2025 or later. Your experience will continue to be high-quality, research-enriched programming delivered by the professors you have come to know. There are no immediate plans to relocate School offices or spaces because of this change.

Please visit our FAQs for more information.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the development and launch of the Faculty of Health and to all our faculty, staff and students who are instrumental to its success. We look forward to all that lies ahead as we begin this exciting new chapter together.

Sincerely,
Dr. Elizabeth Croft
Vice-President Academic and Provost
