Position: Research Coordinator with a 1-year contract, with possibility of extension based on availability of grant funds

Job Summary
The part-time research coordinator will work with Dr. Jean Buckler (School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education) and Dr. Megan Ames (Clinical Psychology) at the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ on research studies related to physical literacy, 24-hour movement behaviours, mental health, stress, and settings-based interventions. The overall objective of Dr. Buckler and Ames’ research is to: (1) better understand how physical literacy, movement behaviours, and mental health are interrelated in an adolescent population; and (2) develop settings-based interventions (i.e. whole of school, childcare) to improve opportunities for positive health behaviours. The research coordinator will assist with project management, data collection and analysis, and knowledge translation activities. Some tasks can be completed remotely (if desired, and if the available remote location allows for conservation of confidentiality, i.e., for confidential phone communication, etc.). However, some on-campus work will be required within the Buckler and Ames Labs (Gordon Head Campus).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Managing all aspects of the research project, including:
- Developing and reviewing research protocols (e.g., surveys, interview guides).
- Developing ethics
- Recruiting participants (e.g., via social media and community organizations).
- Assisting with data collection and management (e.g., online surveys, qualitative interviews, and focus groups).
- Supporting qualitative and quantitative data
- Assisting with writing research-related materials, including reports, presentations, and

- Managing day-to-day operations of the research project, including:
- Coordinating documentation and communication for stakeholders and investigators across multiple organizations.

In-Home Interviewer - Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging
Overview
The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is a unique research study focusing on aging in Canada. Over 50,000 individuals 45 years of age and older are being followed over a 20-year period. The CLSA site at the ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ is currently seeking a part-time In-Home Research Interviewer. The role involves conducting in-person interviews with study participants in participants’ own homes, collecting data, and ensuring adherence to study protocols. This is an ideal position for someone with a flexible schedule who enjoys working with older adults.
Summary of Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Completing required training for the position
- Booking and managing interviews using a home office
- Conducting in-person interviews at participants’ homes throughout Southern Vancouver Island in British Columbia
- Maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards
- Following approved protocols to obtain data, complying with quality standards, and maintaining equipment
- Using study specific software programs to obtain and enter data from research participants
- Participating in regular team meetings and providing updates on progress and any issues encountered
Requirements and Skills
- Access to personal transportation
- Willing to travel throughout Southern Vancouver Island (including Duncan, Mill Bay, Western Communities, Sidney and Victoria)
- Reliable and professional, able to work independently and as a member of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

Terms of employment
- This grant-funded role is part-time, requiring 14 to 17.5 hours of work per week, and is set to continue through June 19, 2026, with the potential for a shift to full-time employment during the contract term, and the potential for renewal.

- Salary is based on the number of complete interviews. Base rate is $23.00 to $25.00 per hour.
