Planetary Health is a solutions-oriented, transdisciplinary field and social movement focused on analyzing and addressing the impacts of destabilized natural systems on human health and all life on Earth. The global (PHA) is catalyzing a global movement to create a livable future for humanity and the rest of life on Earth for generations to come by regenerating Earth’s natural systems.
PHA has over 500 member organizations from over 80 countries committed to understanding and addressing global environmental change and its health impacts. There are eight Regional Hubs dedicated to driving progress in Planetary Health through collaboration and local action. These Planetary Health Regional Hubs promote and support local research, education, policy, outreach, and on-the-ground interventions. We aim to advance social, environmental, climate, gender, and racial justice and equity, and with the guidance of Indigenous Knowledge Systems, promote interconnection within nature to restore Planetary Health.
Just two months ago the PHA established its North American Hub Council. Of the 11 Council Directors, SPA’s Heather Castleden is the recently elected Canadian Co-Strategic Director. At their meeting next week, the Council is setting its strategic plan. If you are a local Planetary Health Champion, please contact Dr Castleden, about an opportunity to meet these North American leaders, including two Youth leaders, who are championing Planetary Health in their respective health disciplines and health professions.
