Juris Doctor & Public Administration double degree (JD + MPA)

We’ve partnered with UVic's Faculty of Law to offer the Juris Doctor and Master of Public Administration double degree program. You’ll study law and public administration while working on your thesis. Our public administration co-op terms will give you hands-on experience.

You’ll graduate as a public administration specialist certified to practice law in all Canadian provinces except Quebec.

Program requirements

Admissions

You must apply separately to both the Juris Doctor (JD) program in the Faculty of Law and the on-campus Master of Public Administration program in the School of Public Administration.

Learn everything you need to know about becoming a ßÉßɱ¬ÁÏ grad student, from finding a supervisor to submitting your application.

Program structure

The first year of the double degree program focuses on the first-year law curriculum. In your second year, you'll finish core public administration courses and co-op requirements. You may be able to take these courses alongside law courses.

MPA courses take priority in the second year. You will finish the rest of your law and public administration course requirements in the next 2 years. You may be able to shorten your program time by taking some MPA courses in the third summer term.
